One morning after Mike Reid had played it at 8.55am on Radio One Eric got a call from the head of Atlantic Records Phil Carson asking for a meeting to get it released in the States. Stuck in the middle of nowhere in rural Suffolk, Eric thought that it was a wind up, as he used to get loads of crank calls because to the airplay. He put the phone down on the guy telling him to “pull the other one!” The phone rang again and the Phil managed to persuade Eric it was genuine. This was the beginning of the WEA Records episode.
