The next project Eric was involved the Heavy Metal Band, Trespass, who were based in Sudbury Suffolk to where Eric had relocated after moving from South London. Eric teamed up with Stephen Guy-Clarke who owned Trial Records. Eric was asked to produce some tracks for the band one of which was the single “ Bright Lights”. Stephen Guy-Clarke decided that he wanted to put “Poverty Line” out as a single on Trial Records along with another two, “Russia” and “ Make Believe”, all produced by Stephen Lipson. Poverty Line was an instant hit with the radio stations and was immediately playlisted by Capital Radio, Radio 1 and 2, and most of the regional BBC stations. It was distributed by Pinnacle Records, then in their infancy. It was well reviewed by Melody Maker, which helped.
