The first record on Vendetta to be released as a single, prior to the album release, was titled “ Don’t Let Go” c/w “Bank Holiday Weekend” by a band called Seventeen. This band later became The Alarm. John Peel played it a few times. As a single it didn’t take off except in the area from where the band was based in Rhyll.
The second single was “Waiting for You” by The Meanies. This catchy tune also was slow to take off but is presently a real collector’s item for vinyl freaks. The third release was “ Bun in the Oven” by the punk band The Runs from Buntingford. This energetic song was really unique and Eric managed to licence it off to Carrere Records and Hansa Records. It was released in Germany on Rocktopus Records but was banned by the BBC because of the lyrics. This of course stimulated more interest.
