Eric has been involved with music in various roles: as a singer, a songwriter, player, producer and as a record executive. The singing and songwriting are covered by the other sections of this website, so we will detail his history of recording and production.
In the late 70’s Eric released a single on his own label called Scratched Records titled “ Lucinda” with the B side “ My Automobile”. This was distributed by Lightning Records who at the time were enjoying a hit with Althea and Donna’s “Uptown Top Rankin’. It managed to get reviewed by Melody Maker and picked up a few airplays. These tracks were produced by Mike Sheppard and engineered by Stephen Lipson at Regent’s Park Recording Company, Stephen’s first studio.
Eric’s knowledge of pressing 45’s and going to plants to see how it was all done was encouraged by a former dentist and neighbour in Kennington called Gordon Nelki. Gordon was a partner with Charlie Gillett, the D.J , of a label called Oval Records based in south London and was very informative about the music business.
