This is the second album by singer/songwriter Eric Gavin who is based in Sudbury, Suffolk, England. His first album “6ft 2 girls” was released in 1998 and was well received by the radio stations. It contained 13 songs of various genres, recorded with the famous producer Stephen Lipson and others produced by Eric and his song-writing partner Mark Newby-Robson, also based in Sudbury. This album contained the turntable hit Eric had in 1982 with “Poverty Line” featuring Raph Ravenscroft, the sax player who had the immortal hit with Gerry Rafferty’s, “Baker St”. “Poverty Line” was subsequently was released in Australia, South Africa, and Scandinavia and Eric was signed to Atlantic Records, a division of WEA records, by Ahmet Ertigen. When Eric signed the contract Ahmet was sitting watching television at WEA with Laura Branigan on his knee, watching Top of The Pops dressed in a perfect suit, unlike Eric in a hand-knit burgundy sweater. “Let’s hope it’s a hit “, he said and added, “Any ambitions?”
Eric replied “ To do a duet with Laura”
She replied, “ Maybe we shall…”
